First Rehearsal

One member got interested in attending after reading a chorus advertisement in the Northwest Florida Daily News. He didn't know anything about the organization and had never sung in a choral group. So he called the telephone number in the advertisement and went to a rehearsal. Here's his description of what happened next:

"I got there about 10 minutes early and there were about 15 guys either seated or standing around talking or singing. Several of them looked my way and welcomed me in with their eyes. . It was as if I'd walked into a roomful of old friends I'd never met.

Some walked over immediately and introduced themselves. One of them pulled me aside and helped me figure out which part I wanted to sing, another brought me a guest songbook with all the words and music on it, and another brought me a guest nametag. It was obvious this group knew how to make a guy feel welcome.

I've been going now for about 2 years and I look forward to Thursday rehearsals. The chorus has improved tremendously, especially in the last year. And I'm learning to sing better and learning new songs every week. I decided I wanted to get into a quartet, and a few weeks ago, another member helped me get 3 other guys together to practice together. This is the most fun I've had in years."
